Spray Foam Insider put out a contest challenge on SFWW to see who could come up with the most unique, unusual or lesser known use for spray foam. There were so many great entries that choosing just 4 was difficult. Pete Nilsson won first place for a free ad on Spray Foam Insider. Three runner ups were also chosen for a free company listing.
11th Century Nordic Church, Sweden
11th Century Medieval Artwork in the Nordic Church
Pete Nilsson, of Sweden, works at FoamKing Skandinavien. His entry, on the preservation of 11th century art and architecture, was as much interesting as it was unusual. “It took 4 years for our company to be awarded the contract to preserve the Nordic church’s art and architecture,” said Peter. Foaming behind the delicate, ancient walls of the church was a logistical challenge as Pete maneuvered into tight, dark, winding crawl spaces. Great care had to be taken to avoid damaging anything, and everything had to be done perfectly the first time. The purpose of the foam was to eliminate moisture that would otherwise deteriorate the precious, irreplaceable artwork and to provide structural integrity for this historic structure. “Once our process has been deemed a complete success, we will have the opportunity to preserve other historic works of art in Nordic churches throughout Sweden. We used Synthesia foam for this project,” explained Peter.
